As always, Kelann did a great job with these ice cream cone cookies. I just got the cutter and can't wait to use it.

Santa Cookies

Check out these adorable Santa Cookies. Confetti-American Style does a great job of decorating cookies. I especially love the Santa's with their eyes closed.

"Gingy"bread Men

"Gingy"bread Men, originally uploaded by twinsline7.

Take a look at these sweet and simple gingerbread men. Sometimes a decorated cookie is not about a lot of frosting. A great cookie only needs simple accents.

Snowman Cookie Ornament

This is a cute version of a snowman scene. I think I have snowmen on the brain today. Just dip each end in the color and decorate on top of it.

There is just something about these snowman cookies that I adore. I like that they are drawn on, instead of being on a snowman shaped cookie.

Iced Angel + Snowflake Gingerbread Cookies

These cookies are gorgeous. Look at all the detailing on the angels.

Green Collection

Sometimes simple is better when it comes to cookies. I like these green cookies and simple embellishments. The quilting marks on the stocking are the perfect touch.

Pink Gingerbread House

Gingerbread House, originally uploaded by emma makes.

This is a simply adorable pink gingerbread house.

I have been trying to figure out why I was so excited about this house. I just realized that I had a gingerbread house bank growing up. The colors where nothing like this, but a lot of the same details. I simply loved that bank. It was one of the decorations that I just assumed every year belonged to me.

Gingerbread House from Gilda's Club

Gilda' Club '07, originally uploaded by Edible Art.

When I see all these gorgeous houses, I don't quite know what to say. It has to take so much work to build these houses and to decorate them so amazingly perfect.

Santa in Chimney Cookie

This is Kel's cookie for the Wilton Cookie Decorating Contest. http://www.cookiedecoratingcontest.com/vote/?id=BB35DEEC-423B-522D-F78EA1765F2D04F1&utm_source=vfe&utm_medium=email I voted for her and hope she wins. Check out that great detail. She uses Fondant and royal iding to make it and it is flawless.

Good Luck Kel!

Not exactly what I would make, but my husband and boys would like this gingerbread design.

Cookies in Chinese Take-out Container

packages done, originally uploaded by tangerinee.

I said I was going to add several packaging ideas for cookies and here is one I love. Maybe next year I will order several of these for my homebaked gifts.

Pecan Tassies

Pecan Tassies, originally uploaded by cbder.

I love these cookies! Not too many people I know even know what they are. When I was young, my Grandma's best friend made these for us every Christmas. There was no way I was touching them. They didn't have visible sugar and I could see the nuts. After 18 years of avoiding them, I tried one. Now, they are in my top 5 cookies.

I haven't made them this year, but it is on my list for next week. Along with several other cookies I have been forgetting to make.

Peanut Butter Blosoms

Mmm..., originally uploaded by yarnzombie.

In our house, my husband does not consider it Christmas without his Peanut Butter Blossoms. When I say 'his', I mean the ones I make and he consumes. He will start asking for them around November 1st and I usually get around to making them around December 15th and 5 dozen last 2 days at the most. So, when I lost my recipe the other day, I panicked. It took me quite a while to remember that Hershey's was kind enough to put the recipe on the back of their packaging.

The one improvement I make for my time, is to buy those chocolate stars instead of kisses, but I can't find them this year. I hate peeling all those wrappers. At least the kids are old enough to help peel now. I wish they would sell the kisses unwrapped. Oh well, better start peeling!!

Cookie Tin

Cookie Tin, originally uploaded by Craxworth.

Who could forget the cookie tin. This is so traditional with Christmas Cookies, that you know that someone is bringing you treats in one of these. I save mine every year and reuse them. Some get cookies in them next year, and others are used for packaging Christmas decorations for the next year.

Cookie Jars as Gift Box

Cookie Jars, originally uploaded by ComeUndone.

If you want to give a little more than cookies, try giving someone cookies in a cookie jar. This gift would be perfect for someone moving into their first place, newly weds, or anyone if you give a Christmas themed jar. Always have fun with your packaging.

Boxes Of Cookies

Boxes Of Cookies, originally uploaded by ComeUndone.

A box tied with a bow is a perfect way to package your cookies. The nice thing about these boxes, is they look like a gift bag. The treats inside would have to be small, but this is perfect when you want to give a little treat to someone.

Cookie Boxes

For packaging cookies, I think these boxes are perfect. The boxes are simple, but the little embellishments make them look more like a gift.

Packaging a Cookie Bouquet.

packaged cookie bouquet.jpg, originally uploaded by ktrammell.

One great thing about this bouquet it that it is sealed from the weather. Another thing I like is that is should travel well. With a nice flat bottom to the basket, it should not tip over in transit. I am going to try and post several packaging ideas this week, so keep checking back.

Snowman Winter Scene Cookie

This is my own creation, but I was inspired by someone else. This was so much fun that I can't wait to make more. I love 3-D cookie designs. I expecially love the kind where people make them from their own regular cutters. I have started to see many pop up and hope to see more creations to come. So, if you have a 3-D creation, let me know and I will link your creation from this site.

Molasses Cookies

I will never be able to make these cookies as good as my Grandmother. She had been making these since the depression years, so she had a lot of practice. Her cookies were always soft and perfectly cracked. They looked like a picture from a bakery. She made dozens at a time and kept about 4 dozen constantly on hand for visitors. Remember that they were always soft. I know very few people who even like Molasses, but after eating these cookies, many people changed their mind. I wish you luck and hope yours will turn out that perfect. Here is that special recipe.

Ingredients
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
4 tbsp. molasses
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

In a bowl, creme shortening and sugar. Add in egg, molasses, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda. Finally, add flour. Refrigerate at least 4 hours. Roll into 1" balls. Roll balls in sugar and place on a cookie sheet. Flatten with fingers and bake in a 350 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven, and place cookies on a cooling rack or counter until cool.

The Pink Cupcake Gingerbread House

I want to make a Gingerbread house this year, but I don't think the kids would leave this one alone for a second. The frosting would have several finger prints the first time I leave the room.

Packaging Cookies

It's the holidays, and many of us love to bake sweets and share with our friends and family. The question that we all get stuck with is how to package those homemade treats. Here are my top ways to package my gifts.

1) Decorative Tins
2) Gift Bags
3) Bakery Boxes
4) Coffee Cups for my mini cookies wrapped in Cellophane
5) Individual Treat Bags for my kids to take to school
6) Individual treat bags to use as gift tags.
7) Little Baskets
8) Decorative Bowls

Play around with your packaging. You can really come up with some sweet looking gifts, that often cost very little. Try the Dollar Stores for ideas that are easy on the wallet.

Got an idea? Drop my a comment and I'll add yours to my list.

Christmas cookies do not always have to be traditional. I like the simple colors and designs of these treats.

Christmas Lights Cookies

These cookies remind me of Christmas growing up. Though these lights were a little dangerous, these cookies are not. Just a sweet reminder of the past.

Mmmm Oreo Turkey Cookies

Now this is adorable. Love the detail and looks so yummy.

Americolor Gel Colors

I have tried several food coloring gels with my icing and have found the Americolor Gels work the best. The colors are true and consistent everytime, expecially when you are trying to get black icing. If you need to make an additional batch of icing, you can almost count on it every time being the same color.

The problem for many of us is that you can't find these colors in your local craft stores. You have to find a great place to buy them on-line. Here is a list of places to look for your colors.
